FriYAY!!

Happy Friday! Here are 5 random things to top off your week:

one. Remember when I said that our annual matching family Christmas pajamas was one of my most favorite things ever? Well, guess what arrived in the mail this week?! I found this year’s set at The Children’s Place. Yes, even for Shawn & I! They have adult sizes in their sleepwear section! I was shocked and the best part, they were 50% off and I got free shipping. Is it Christmas Eve yet?!

two. On Wednesday, Maverick spent all afternoon & evening wearing only his shirt and raincoat. He saw it hanging in his closet after his nap and requested he wear it. It was absolutely adorable!

Since his birthday is coming up in December, I’m wondering if I should get him some dress up clothes? I think he would LOVE this.

three. Speaking of jackets that my son loves to wear, I found this little gem at Sears. It’s perfect for these fall mornings we have been having. It’s fleece-lined so its warmer than a regular hoodie, but lighter than his winter coat. Best part? It’s on sale!

four. I pride myself on being a great planner, but I have desperately failed with Halloween this year. I haven’t even begun to prepare Maverick’s costume and when I was looking at the calendar this morning, I realized that I scheduled my pregnancy glucose test for the morning AFTER Halloween!! Looks like I’ll be celebrating this weekend with candy and not on Monday evening. Boo.

five. Shawn has been traveling for work and has been gone every week this month, but today he comes home and is home for 2 WHOLE WEEKS! This is big!! I hope he is ready for it because this mama needs a nap.

Happy Friday everybody!! Have a great weekend!

Pregnancy Update | 25 Weeks

This week marks my 25th week of pregnancy with Baby Brack #2! I don’t know what’s scarier — the fact that 25 weeks have already passed or that I only have 15 more weeks to go before I’m a mom of two kids, 2 years old & under!!

Either way, I’m getting excited for Baby Girl’s arrival. The nursery is painted, the crib is picked out and the chair & ottoman for her room got ordered last weekend (thanks, Mom)!

PS Ignore the bad selfie, I’m working on getting a camera tripod, but the high-chair & my iPhone are my best options for the time being 🙂

How far along: 25 weeks + 1 day

Size of baby: About the size of a head of cauliflower

Weight gain: More like weight loss! I’ve actually lost weight this pregnancy and while the doctor is slightly concerned, I’m not. I tried explaining that I went from a desk job to being a full-time toddler wrangler (AKA stay-at-home mom) and that’s probably why I’m not packing on the pounds. But she wants to see some increase on the scale at my next visit, so I’m doing my best to indulge in all things cookies, ice cream & chocolate.

Pregnancy symptoms: During Maverick’s pregnancy, I had heartburn from the first trimester up until he was born. Like the Old Wive’s tale says, he was born with a FULL head of hair. Fortunately with Baby Girl I hadn’t had any heartburn until this week and it’s back with a vengeance. It usually starts between 8:30-9 PM and it’s so bad that if I lay down, I feel like I might vomit. I told Shawn that she better come out with a full ponytail because this is vicious.

Other than that, I’ve had some minor cramping, but nothing concerning. It’s likely because I’m not a good pregnant person and insist on doing the same things I would do while not pregnant (i.e., stand on a 6-foot ladder to help paint our master bedroom).

Kick Count: Minor movements during the day, but she’s super active in the evenings & at night. Shawn & my Mom have felt her move and she’s kicked Maverick a few times while I was rocking him to sleep, but he didn’t seem to notice.

Food cravings/aversions: I crave all things sweet, especially cookie dough & ice cream and still have quite an aversion to chicken. Yuck!

Overall, I’m feeling pretty good. I’m starting to get the lower back pain and I did have 1 or 2 Braxton Hicks contractions a few weeks ago, but it really has been an easy 25 weeks. Let’s hope the next 15 weeks are smooth sailing too!

Family Pictures with Missy Moore Photography

As a wife and mother, I have a lot of goals and traditions that I want to uphold for my family. The typical ones, like raising a well-mannered child & getting your favorite dinner on your birthday. And then the ones that make me all giddy and happy inside — annual family pictures & wearing matching PJs on Christmas.

While I have yet to find this year’s Christmas attire (still looking!), I did get to cross annual family pictures off my list for 2016!

The incredibly talented Missy Moore has become our family photographer, if you will. She is the owner of Missy Moore Photography and does an AMAZING job.

This year we took pictures on William Jewell College’s campus and I couldn’t have asked for a better evening. It was warm for a fall evening, but bearable which I’m so thankful for because pregnant + heat often ends in a sweaty, nasty mess, but not this time!

Like any mom preparing for family pictures, I stressed about what everyone would wear. Luckily, it came together rather easy this year. Since boys are easier to dress (and don’t really care what they wear), I always try to find my outfit first and then coordinate Shawn & Maverick to what I picked.

Initially when I tried on my dress, I didn’t end up buying it. I was worried it was too tight and settled for a plain, olive green shirt instead. A few days later though, my mom and I were back at Target and I tried the dress on for her and she sold me on it.

Not only was my dress comfortable, but I LOVE the color and I think it was a perfect fit for my growing bump.

As for the boys, I also found Maverick’s shirt at Target (and on clearance!) which I paired with his favorite pair of Old Navy jeans that we already owned and his Converse tennis shoes.

For Shawn, I picked up a shirt at Kohl’s and he paired it with his go-to jeans and some dress shoes.

My favorite thing about working with Missy is that she offers photo sessions that only last 30 minutes. It makes it easy to fit into our crazy schedule and it’s the perfect time length for active toddlers (and bored husbands).

I absolutely love this year’s pictures and I can’t wait for her to come to the house to shoot Baby Brack #2’s newborn pictures when she arrives in February.

The VERY best part about annual pictures, though? Seeing how much has changed in a year.

Thank you again, Missy! You are fabulous!

Weekend Recap

Mondays are usually a drag, but today starts a week of Shawn being home on vacation, which is really just the icing on the cake to a great weekend!

We had a family day on Friday at Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead. I had tried to take Maverick by myself a few weeks ago, but it was so hot and miserable, we didn’t stay long. Luckily, this time the weather was absolutely beautiful and Shawn was there to keep up with Maverick while this pregnant mama brought up the rear.

Maverick’s favorite part was by far the baby goats. He wasn’t interested in feeding them the bottles, but he sure loved petting them!

We tried checking out the ducks and the fish, but Maverick could have cared less. He was just upset that he couldn’t get in the pond to swim with them.

Seriously though, could these guys get any cuter?! LOVE!

We also did the wagon ride, walked through the butterfly garden and enjoyed a sack lunch before heading home for a long nap. It really was a great day with my boys!

Friday night one of Maverick’s favorite teachers from his daycare days came over to babysit so Shawn and I could enjoy a double date with my Mom & step-father, Wayne. We went to Dave & Busters and had an absolute blast! I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. Plus who doesn’t love arcade games and photo booths?

On Sunday, my mom came over early to help Shawn paint the nursery. In an effort to escape the fumes, Maverick and I met my best friend, Brittany (or better known as Aunt B) at the most delicious bagel place–Meshuggah Bagels. For Kansas City locals, it’s on 39th Street and while the place itself is small inside, the bagels are absolutely to die for!

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to grab any pictures because Maverick not only ate most of his plain bagel with cinnamon sugar schmear, but he also enjoyed part of my sesame bagel with their seasonal pumpkin pie schmear. But trust me when I say they were THE BEST! Maybe we’ll just have to make this a regular Sunday morning outing?

After bagels, Maverick and I ran a few more errands and came home to a painted nursery for Baby Brack #2. The color couldn’t be more perfect, but I’m keeping it a secret until we get it all decorated.

It really was a great weekend and I’m so excited that house projects are getting checked off the list. In fact, I think while Shawn is off this week we are going to try and paint the master bedroom too since it’s the only room in the house that we haven’t painted yet. Plus, we’ll be getting ready for our annual trip to Dallas to visit my grandma.

Hope you have a happy Monday!
